Our Leadership Team includes:


Bruce G. Higley
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Higley earned his Civil Engineering Degree from Lehigh University in 1980 and began his construction career that year at a large Pacific Northwest construction firm.  In 1983 he joined The Albert M. Higley Co.  He progressed though several positions prior to his current role.  As Chairman and CEO, Mr. Higley continues to guide the company according to its founding principles.

Gareth D. Vaughan
President

Mr. Vaughan earned his Civil Engineering Degree from The University of Trent in the United Kingdom in 1991,  and began his construction career that year at a large international construction company.  He secured his MSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1993.  In 2001, he joined The Albert M. Higley Co. to open and grow the Columbus Office.  In 2008, he relocated to the Cleveland headquarters as Executive Vice President.  He assumed his current role in 2010 and is responsible for the performance, profitability and growth of the company. Mr. Vaughan is a member of the 2009-2010 class of Leadership Cleveland.

Wes Hansen, ASHE, LEED® AP
Vice President of Operations

Mr. Hansen earned his Civil Engineering Degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1971 and began his construction career that same year at The Albert M. Higley Co.  During the past 39 years, he has managed more than $2 billion of new and renovation construction.  He assumed his current role in 2010 and is responsible for the operational success of all projects.

Jon Ferrell
Vice President of Business Development

Mr. Ferrell earned undergraduate and advanced degrees from Cleveland State University and Syracuse University in Political Science and Public Administration.  After a 13-year career at Cleveland City Council, he entered the construction industry in 1990 at the country's largest construction company.  He joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2004 and leads the business development function including our partnering efforts and expansion into new markets.  Mr. Ferrell is a member of the 1988-1989 class of Leadership Cleveland.

Dan Sehlhorst, LEED® AP
Vice President of Pre-Construction Services

Mr. Sehlhorst earned a degree in Industrial Management from the University of Kentucky.  He entered the construction industry on a part-time basis while in school in 1979.  After spending 15 years with a large Southeast Ohio construction company, he joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2006.  He leads our unified, six-member, full-time Pre-Construction Services Group which includes estimating, value engineering, constructability, purchasing, value and scheduling specialists.

Rex Lewers, LEED® AP
Vice President of Office Interiors and Sustainability

Mr. Lewers earned his Architecture degree from Iowa State University, and a Business Administration degree from Baldwin Wallce College.  He joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 1988.  For many years he served as Group Manager of our Office and Interiors Center of Excellence.  In 2009 he added Sustainability title to his already impressive credentials.   In this newly created corporate office Mr. Lewers is responsible for helping all projects incorporate environmentally sustainable business practices.  In this role he performs regular independent audits and inspections of every project.


Kurt Heinicke
Vice President of General Contracting

Mr. Heinicke earned degrees in Biology and Civil Engineering from Denison University and Cleveland State University, respectively.  He began his construction career in 1976 as a Project Engineer with an international petrochemical engineering and construction company.  He joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 1983 as a Project Manager and, in 1993, became Manager of Field Operations.  He became a Group Leader of the Self-Perform Center of Excellence and a Vice President in 1995.



Tom Lippert
Vice President of Safety and Quality Assurance

Mr. Lippert earned a B.S. in marketing from Pennsylvania State University and a M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington.  In a 22-year, highly decorated career he rose the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.   In 2010 he joined The Albert M. Higley Co. after retiring from Acquisition Director for the Defense Contract Management Agency.   Mr. Lippert joins the leadership team to help every member of our company and every subcontractor elevate safety and exceptional quality into personal and professional values rather than mere business strategies.
