Diversity
The Albert M. Higley Co. recognizes the importance of employing and partnering with minority, women-owned, Veteran disabled, Veteran-owned, Small Business, EDGE and other under-represented groups in our local economy. We are committed to increasing the opportunities for such firms as our project management partners, subcontractors and suppliers. Our diversity expenditure in the past three years exceeds $100 million in contracts let to more than 40 different diverse firms.
We continually work to strengthen our processes and procedures to maximize our inclusiveness as an organization both internally and externally.
-
In 2004 we secured the State of Ohio's first Small Business Administration approved "mentor protege" agreement in the construction industry with a local diverse partner.
-
Using that experience as our model, we have subsequently entered private "mentor protege" agreements with four other diverse firms in a concerted effort to help them grow and prosper.
- We hold a current and valid Certificate of Compliance from the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, Equal Opportunity Division.
Community
As a firm, The Albert M. Higley Co. is very active in the charitable support of the community. Our employees are involved in more than 100 social and civic organizations. Increasingly, we use our construction projects as tools to engage students, teachers and civic groups in educational experience and to provide interns and co-ops with pre-employment experiences. We are strong supporters of United Way.
