Our Corporate Leadership Team includes:

GARETH D. VAUGHAN - PRESIDENT & CEO

Mr. Vaughan received a BEng in Civil Engineering in 1991 from University of Trent in the United Kingdom, and in 1993, a M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. Mr. Vaughan joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2001 as a Regional Manager, and was elected President in 2010. He was named CEO in 2017. Mr. Vaughan is a graduate of Leadership Cleveland and is extensively involved in both the construction industry and the community.

CARLO BARONE - CFO

Mr. Barone received a B.S. in Finance from The University of Akron in 1994.  He began his career in commercial banking as an internal auditor and credit analyst.  After earning an M.B.A. from Case Western Reserve University in 2000, he went on to serve in various corporate financial analysis and leadership roles in the technology and homebuilding industries.  Carlo joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2016 as Chief Financial Officer.

KURT L. HEINICKE - SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

Mr. Heinicke received a B.A. in Biology from Denison University in 1973, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Cleveland State University in 1976. He began his construction career in 1976 as a Project Engineer with an international petrochemical engineering and construction company and joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 1983 as a Project Manager. In 1993, Kurt became Manager of Field Operations and was elected Vice President in 1995.

DANIEL F. SEHLHORST - SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

Mr. Sehlhorst received his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management in 1984 from the University of Kentucky. He began his professional construction career as an Estimator/Project Manager in Philadelphia, PA.  In 1991, Dan joined a large southwest Ohio self-perform general contractor as Project Manager, then in 1999 was promoted to Operations Manager.  In 2006, Dan joined The Albert M. Higley Co. as Regional Manager of the AMHigley-Columbus office, then in 2008 was promoted to Vice President of Pre-Construction Services. He achieved LEED® Accredited Professional status in 2009.  In 2017, Dan was promoted to Vice President, Major & Strategic Pursuits and charged with Major project development as well as Strategic development of a new regional office in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2019, Dan was promoted to Senior Vice President.

DAVID A. PASTIR - SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS

Mr. Pastir received a B.S. in Construction Technology from the University of Akron in 1994, and joined The Albert M. Higley Co. the same year as a Project Engineer. He was promoted to Project Manager in 1998, Project Executive in 2013, and was made a Vice President of Operations in 2015. Dave is a member of ASHE and received his Healthcare Construction Certificate in 2004. He became a LEED®Accredited Professional (BD+C) the same year. In 2019, Dave was promoted to Senior Vice President of Operations. He currently serves as Board Member for both Grace House and Achievement Centers for Children.

ANNA C. DODSON - VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Ms. Dodson received her Associate of Arts in Applied Business from Cuyahoga Community College in 2000. That same year, she began her career in the AEC industry as a Design Representative. She later continued her career as an Account Executive in the industry; following promotion to Sales Manager. Anna joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2017 as Vice President of Business Development. Anna is an active member of the Cleveland and greater Northeast Ohio community; involved with organizations including Urban Land Institute Cleveland, Greater Cleveland Partnership, Empower Her Network, and Cleveland Bridge Builders.

JASON PASTOR - VICE PRESIDENT OF PRECONSTRUCTION

Mr. Pastor began his construction career as a Sheet Metal Worker in 1988. In 1997 he began working for a general contractor in the northeast Ohio area and joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2007 as Senior Estimator and MEP Coordinator. In 2009, he became a LEED® Accredited Professional and was named Senior Preconstruction and MEP Manager shortly thereafter. In 2017, Jason was named AMHigley's Vice President of Preconstruction.

THOMAS E. LIPPERT - VICE PRESIDENT OF SAFETY & QUALITY

Mr. Lippert received a B.S. in Marketing as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Penn State University in 1989, and a M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2001. in a 22-year, highly decorated career with the United States Army, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was directly responsible for more than $15 billion in defense contracts. Tom joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2010 as Vice President.  He is a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals and the American Society for Quality

MARK VEGA - VICE PRESIDENT OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT

In 1998, Mr. Vega earned his B.S. in Construction Management from Bowling Green State University. He began his career with a large international construction company. At that firm, he worked as a Project Engineer and Estimator. He next joined a regional construction management firm where he served as Superintendent, Estimator and Project Manager. Mark joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2013 as a Project Manager and was named a Project Executive in 2015. In 2016, Mark was named AMHigley’s Corporate Office Market Leader; and in 2019, he was promoted to Vice President of Project Management.

MIKE MOONEY - VICE PRESIDENT, CUSTOMER SERVICE GROUP

Mr. Mooney earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering Technology from The University of Toledo in 2007 and joined The Albert M. Higley Co. full-time the same year. He is a member of the Cleveland Engineering Society and the Construction Management Association of America. Mike earned promotion Senior Project Engineer in 2010 and became a LEED Green Associate the same year. He earned promotion to Project Manager in 2011. Mike was named Manager of AMHigley’s Customer Service Group Manager in 2016 and was promoted to General Manager of the Customer Service Group in 2018, and Vice President 2019.

RYAN DOYLE - REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT, MICHIGAN

Mr. Doyle received his Master of Architecture and Master of Civil Engineering degrees in 2006 from the University of Detroit Mercy. That same year, he began his career working for a Construction Management firm in Michigan. Ryan has successfully managed several Healthcare, Food Service and Casino projects throughout Michigan as well as Aviation projects at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago. Ryan joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2017 as Regional Manager of their new Detroit office. Ryan is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan and is actively involved in various organizations throughout southeast Michigan and Detroit including Associate Board Member, City Year Detroit, and City of Royal Oak Rehabilitation Board of Appeals Member. In 2019, Ryan was promoted to Regional Vice President, Michigan.

SKYLAR VAN SOEST - REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT, PENNSYLVANIA

Mr. Van Soest began his construction career renovating residential properties in Baltimore, MD; while working as a middle school science teacher and earning a Masters degree from Johns Hopkins University. In 2006 he relocated his family to Pittsburgh to pursue construction management as a career, and earned a second Masters degree in AEC Management from Carnegie Mellon University. For the next eight years Skylar worked for a Pittsburgh-based construction management firm, managing construction for healthcare and higher education clients.  That experience opened the door to a construction leadership position with one of Pennsylvania’s largest healthcare providers, where he served as Senior Program Manager from 2015-2019. Skylar joined AMHigley in 2019 as Regional Vice President, Pennsylvania.

KEVIN CICEN - HEALTHCARE MARKET LEADER

Mr. Cicen earned a B. S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Akron in 1998. He began his construction career the same year as a Project Engineer with a large northeast Ohio based general contractor. He joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2000 as an Assistant Superintendent. He earned promotion to Project Manager in 2003, Senior Project Manager in 2011, and Project Executive in 2014. Kevin is a member of the Construction Management Association of America. He became ASHE Certified in 2006, a LEED® AP in 2009, and an ASHE Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) in 2017. In 2016, Kevin was named AMHigley’s Healthcare Market Leader.

ANDREW HUDAK - HOSPITALITY & ENTERTAINMENT MARKET LEADER

Mr. Hudak earned his B.S. in Construction Engineering Technology from The University of Toledo in 2007.  Prior to graduating, Andy held multiple co-op positions at The Albert M. Higley Co., and joined full time as a Project Engineer upon graduation.  In 2010, he earned the title LEED® Green Associate, and received promotion to Senior Project Engineer. He was promoted to Project Manager in 2012, and Senior Project Manager in 2018.  In 2019, Andy was promoted to Project Executive and was named AMHigley’s Hospitality & Entertainment Market Leader. 

GUS KRIARIS - EDUCATION MARKET LEADER

Mr. Kriaris earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 2000.  He joined The Albert M. Higley Co. the same year as a Project Engineer.  In 2007, he was promoted to Project Manager.  In 2018, Gus continued managing a number of education related projects and was promoted to Sr. Project Manager.  In 2019 Gus was named a Project Executive and became AMHigley’s Education Market Leader.

DAVID MEEHAN, PE - CULTURAL & NON-PROFIT MARKET LEADER

Mr. Meehan received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1986; and soon after began working for a large national construction company in their Cleveland office. In 1990, he became a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio. Dave joined The Albert M. Higley Co. in 2000 as a Project Manager and was promoted to Project Executive in 2014. Dave is a Professional Engineer and is a LEED Accredited Professional (BD+C). In 2016, he was named AMHigley’s Cultural and Non-Profit Market Leader.

GAVIN SMITH - GOVERNMENT MARKET LEADER

Mr. Smith began his career serving 5 years in the U.S. Army. In 1998, he earned his B.S. in City and Regional Planning & Political Science from The Ohio State University. Following graduation, Gavin began work at an Industrial Construction Company prior to joining an architectural firm for 15 years. In 2015, he joined The Albert M. Higley Co. as Senior Project Manager. In 2016, Gavin was named Project Executive and Government Market Leader.
