AMHIGLEY GETS INTO THE SPIRT OF GIVING!
On Saturday, November 14th, the AMHigley Community Service Committee hosted a Replay for Kids event that allowed committee members and AMHigley employees to alter toys to better interact with disabled children. RePlay for Kids is a non-profit organization of volunteers who repair and adapt toys and assistive devices for children with disabilities in Northeast Ohio.
The AMHigley employees learned how to open up new Cookie Monster and Elmo toys and attach wires/switches to the mechanisms inside. The process will enable a disabled child to operate the toy by touching a large control pad, blowing through an air tube, or nudging a toggle switch.
Other employees helped with the event by donating money to purchase the Sesame Street toys. In total, the event was able to manipulate 22 toys, which will be going to children in need just in time for the holiday season!
