PROJECT DESCRIPTION
AMHigley is currently serving as Construction Manager at Risk on The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County Addition and Renovation Project. The project is the historical renovation of the 1910 Carnegie Library, 1996 Addition renovation and construction of a new 6,900 SF addition. The renovation work includes new Library offices and support spaces, new Children’s area, renovated Collections space with study rooms, a Genealogy area, a large multipurpose meeting room, a Culinary Literacy area, a Maker Space, and extensive technology upgrades. Sitework includes expanded parking and garden areas. Building exterior work includes stone restoration, new windows, and roofing replacement. The work was scheduled in multiple phases to keep the Library open and allow the Library staff to continue to use the building. Project Highlights include:
- Creating a new Wick Ave. entrance to match the entrance from the original 1910 construction
- Interior and exterior stone restoration
- Replacing the large skylight above the historic main lobby, and restoration of the Parthenon frieze
- The large meeting room and culinary literacy space in the addition will provide flexible space for new Library programs
